COLD OPEN | 10th Season Intro Still
SCENE 1 | Big Bird chats with Marlena, Jessica, John, and John in his nest, and observes how there may be more than one John in the world, but he's never met someone else named Big Bird. He spins a story for the kids about how he got his name...
SCENE 1 cont'd | The scene shifts to the top of a tree, where Big Bird's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather resides with another bird (performed here by Bob Payne). The two don't have names and they call out, "Hey, you!" to get the other's attention. Big Bird's grandfather thinks of names that could differentiate the two using their physical attributes, but finds that they are just too similar. The smaller bird points out their size difference, and the larger bird proposes rather long names based on their sizes. He is convinced shorter names would suffice... like Arnold or Harry.
SCENE 1 cont'd | Back on the street, Big Bird finishes the story by explaining how the two birds kept arguing over their names, and his mommy just called him "Big Bird" when he was born.
