SCENE 1 On a rainy day, the front window of the Fix-It Shop has begun leaking. Luis asks Big Bird to put something under the drops while he leaves to get some supplies. Big Bird finds a coffee mug, which he doesn't think is big enough. He gets a bigger glass bowl, which he still feels isn't sufficient. He finally finds a large washtub, which he thinks is just big enough. Luis returns and points out that the tub is too big for such a small leak. Big Bird grabs a hammer with the intention of making a bigger leak.

SCENE 2 At Hooper's Store, Maria and Luis tend to a broken stool while Mr. Hooper uses a mixer to prepare cupcake batter. Sam the Robot wants to help out, describing the ways a machine like him can perform those tasks, but everyone is just fine. Suddenly, the rain knocks out the power, rendering Mr. Hooper's mixer and Maria's drill unusable. Sam thinks this is his chance to help, but Mr. Hooper can still mix with a spoon and Maria uses a non-electronic drill. They see how dejected Sam is and offer a way he can help - some musical accompaniment. Sam beeps, whirls and makes other assorted noises, which doesn't seem like music to the rest of them.

SCENE 3 Big Bird observes the power outage at Hooper's. Although Luis says the power company is currently fixing the problem, Big Bird has an idea of his own - since the Count causes lightning when he counts, if they count to 10, the lights could come back on. Sure enough, this plan doesn't work, so Big Bird borrows the Amazing Mumford's magic words to bring back the light, unsuccessfully. Big Bird hatches one more plan - standing on one foot, holding your nose and saying, "Snurdle-snurdle-snurdle!" Everyone plays along and the power suddenly returns. They remain confused as Big Bird, beaming with pride, exits the store. Luis answers a call from the power company, who are still having trouble restoring power in some areas; Luis passes along Big Bird's technique.
