SCENE 1 David aimless wipes down the counter at Hooper's Store, which is devoid of customers. Luis comes in and David explains how he feels this way whenever the store is empty. He continues to mope as Maria, Gordon and many kids begin filling the store, though he doesn't notice the commotion while in his funk. Oscar stops by and empathizes with David, claiming he would be sad too if everyone was having so much fun around him. David finally notices the crowd and his outlook brightens.

Muppets Ernie & Bert โ€” Ernie and Bert are watching TV, but Bert gets bored and decides to play a record. Ernie tells him to turn down the volume, but Bert won't, so Ernie drowns out Bert's music by playing the radio. Bert then retaliates by turning on the blender. With all four things running at once, they blow a fuse, causing a total blackout in their apartment. Bert goes outside to fix the fuse box, while Ernie turns off all the things that were running. When the lights come back on, they decide to play cards instead of fight.

David wonders who the note could be from, but finds more clues in the P.S. sections (plus the back) of the note - the customer wants a big bowl, they don't eat with a spoon and requesting some birdseed sprinkled on top. David realizes the note is from Big Bird, who then enters the store asking if his lunch is ready. David explains that reading the note took so long, he hasn't made the food yet. Big Bird responds, "What's the problem? I said it was from me didn't I??"
