SCENE 1 Today is Granny Bird's birthday and Big Bird has a gift for her. He asks Gordon to help wrap it, until it's revealed the gift is a live goldfish. Gordon tells Big Bird he can't put this in the mail, so Big Bird gives him the fish as a birthday gift and dashes off to find something else for Granny Bird.
Film A mailman on horseback delivers mail in the Appalachian mountains of Kentucky.

Muppets Ernie & Bert โ€” Ernie tries to put a pot on Bert's head. Bert asks Ernie why he's doing that, and Ernie says that he broke a cookie jar. Ernie has to put the cookies somewhere, so he put them in the sugar bowl โ€“ and put the sugar in the flowerpot, which meant that he had to put the flower in a milk bottle. He put the milk in the soda bottle, the soda into the fishbowl, and the fish in Bert's cowboy hat. Bert asks, "Now what am I going to wear when I want to play cowboy?" Ernie puts the pot on Bert's head and says, "Ride 'em, cowboy, Bert!"

SCENE 2 Big Bird's next gift idea is a bouquet of flowers in a water-less vase, learning the potential problems from before. Gordon again explain that this gift can't be mailed either - the flowers would wilt and die by the time they reached Granny Bird. Big Bird gives the flowers to Gordon and runs out for another gift.

Film Two glasses are filled with fluid, but one glass overflows as a hand keeps pouring into it. The same thing happens using salt shakers and bowls of nuts. Finally, the glasses are filled again, only one glass barely fills up as fluid is poured into it. The camera pulls out, revealing the glass is filling into another one below, which overflows as before.

Big Bird asks him to wrap it, along with an ice cream cone he thinks Granny Bird will like as well.

Kermit offers a hotline, Sesame Street-555, for people to call in and help her. The name ends up being Bruce Rumpelstiltskin, but unfortunately for Kermit, he picked the wrong place to hide: the baby's carriage!

SCENE 5 Maria sets out an old shirt of hers on the banister with the intention of letting Oscar have it. Big Bird comes across it first and fixes it up so it's good as new. Maria appreciates his efforts, but explains that it was going to be a gift for Oscar. Big Bird undoes the fixes he's made to the shirt (by reversing the footage).
