SCENE 1 | Telly Monster explains that Linda has invited him over to her apartment for a visit. When he rings the doorbell, he remembers that Linda is deaf, and that she's not going to hear it. While he goes on, Linda opens the door and watches him in puzzlement. Telly finally turns around to see her, and does his best to convey the question of how she knew he rang he doorbell. Linda leads him in and points to a light above her door. Telly understands, and explains that the light turns on when someone rings the doorbell. | |

He wonders, however, how Linda will answer the call since she can't speak. In response, Linda demonstrates that the phone has a text readout, and it says that Bob is on his way to pick up her laundry. Telly is fascinated that there are things that help a deaf person find out about sounds they can't hear. When his stomach grumbles, he pats his stomach to gesture that he's hungry. | |

Big Bird wants to see if it will work for him, so he rings the bell which summons an annoyed Linda, who asks them to stop playing around and closes the door again. Deena excitedly announces that its her turn, rings the bell, and is greeted by an angry Linda who closes the door a bit harder this time. Bob arrives with Linda's laundry, but the gang warn him not to ring the doorbell. He does anyway; Linda opens the door, fuming mad, tells everyone to go away and leave her alone, and slams the door in Bob's face. | |
