SCENE 1 | Maria hastily greets the viewer, as she has a lot of work to do today at the Fix-It Shop. She hopes she doesn't get any interruptions as she heads into the back room and starts sawing.
SCENE 1 cont'd | Bob enters the shop and interrupts Maria, asking if he can use her telephone. He calls to reschedule a music lesson, when Telly arrives. He calls out Maria from the back room. She tells him that she hasn't gotten around to fixing his toaster, but he too requests the use of her phone. He calls up the weather service and finds it's going to rain. Soon after, Big Bird disturbs Maria, looking for Mr. Snuffleupagus (the exterior of the shop is their rendezvous point). He also uses her phone to call Snuffy and leaves to go to his cave instead. After that, a man from the telephone company (Marc Weiner) interrupts Maria, who is ecstatic to see they've installed a new pay phone right outside the shop, meaning no more disruptions. Telly then comes in to deliver the good news to Maria.
