SCENE 1 Oscar the Grouch explains to Susan and Gordon that he and Spot haven't slept in two night because of renovations going on in his can. He doesn't know what will happen if he doesn't get any sleep tonight, so when the Robinsons suggest he stay at someone's apartment, Oscar offers their own place up. He promises to help with the chores and be polite because it will make him extra grouchy the next day. They reluctantly agree while Oscar packs for the night.
