SCENE 1 Forgetful Jones strolls out on the street at the crack of dawn, carrying a paper bag. He can't remember what to call this time of day and listens to the various sounds around him (such as Maria's alarm clock and Ernie's bath) to deduce that it's morning. Only now, he can't remember what he got up bright and early to do.
Cartoon Various sounds are demonstrated, including an alarm clock, a baby crying, a telephone, a faucet dripping, and a boy sneezing.

SCENE 2 Forgetful still doesn't remember what he was going to do, so Gordon helps him figure out the clues. Inside the bag they find pieces of a broken lamp and he's heading towards the Fix-It Shop. Oscar thinks he's bringing it to the dump, which is in the same direction (and hopes he can get it instead). Gordon convinces Forgetful that he's bringing the lamp to the Fix-It Shop to be repaired. After Forgetful leaves, Clementine comes by looking for him. She reveals the lamp was indeed intended to go to the dump, having been up in the attic for ages. She goes after Forgetful, wondering where he could've gotten such an idea from. Oscar is annoyed with Gordon's "assistance," to which Gordon responds, "Nobody's perfect."

He hides from sight, then runs into Bob and explains his problem. As Linda comes by, they teach him some simple signs to start a conversation. Telly is pleased to see how quickly he's caught on, but starts to worry about not having anything to talk about when signing.

Barkley goes after the imaginary stick and when he can't seem to find it, he returns with a broom instead. Bob announces the sponsors.

CLOSING SIGNS Olivia and a kid hold the Sesame Street sign, while Luis holds the CTW sign.
