SCENE 2 | Big Bird greets Linda as she reads a book. Mr. Snuffleupagus then happens in with a bouquet of flowers to give to her. He calls her name, but doesn't get any response. He follows her around the block and remains unseen. He fears she's mad at him and runs off to Big Bird's nest all upset. Big Bird reminds him that Linda is deaf, thus couldn't hear him. Since Linda has no trouble seeing Big Bird, Snuffy asks him to give her the flowers on his behalf. Big Bird does so, even though Linda doesn't believe in Snuffy. She does give Big Bird a hug for him, which Big Bird imparts onto Snuffy. "It's the next best thing to being there," he says. | |
