Big Bird explains to them (with a flashback) that two Honkers came by his nest earlier, and one of them had a sore nose. He tried to find something that the sick Honker could use to honk, including a bell, a rattle, and other things that didn't work … until Snuffy came by and offered the use of his (giant) tricycle horn, which is where the loud honk came from.
