SCENE 1 Luis and Olivia greet the viewer on a very hot day on Sesame Street. Olivia comments that it's so hot, one could fry an egg on the sidewalk. Nearby, Oscar does just that, tossing eggs (and the shells) into a skillet resting on the hot pavement. He informs Olivia that he has guests over for breakfast and adds some (stale) toast to the mix, then takes orders for more things to fry up.

First, they open both doors to circulate the air in the store, but it doesn't prove effective. They then produce a fan to blow on a large tray of ice, but the fan short circuits within moments. Luis finally comes up with an idea - he and Mr. Hooper pour cold glasses of water over themselves.

Rain begins pouring. Telly Monster thinks they should all head inside before they catch a cold, but everyone takes pleasure in the relief from above. He then announces the sponsors and shows signs of coming down with something himself.
