SCENE 1 Mr. Hooper takes a phone call from the pay phone in Hooper's Store; it's his younger brother, Arnold in Chicago. He asks how the family is and wants to know when he'll see him next. Arnold replies, he'll see him next when he looks out the window. Mr. Hooper does, and sees his brother speaking on a phone next to Oscar's trash can. Shouting for joy, Mr. Hooper rushes over to his brother, who explains that he wanted his visit to be a surprise.

SCENE 2 Olivia has joined the Hooper brothers in Hooper's Store. Arnold orders a small chocolate egg cream, and Mr. Hooper prepares the drink: first the chocolate syrup, then the soda water, and the milk last. Arnold is shocked at his method, and offers his own: first the chocolate syrup, then the milk, and the soda water last. Olivia rolls her eyes at the sparring brothers, both of whom claim to have learned their methods from working in their father's candy store. To determine whose is best, they ask Olivia to try them both. Olivia says they both taste the same, but Mr. Hooper isn't satisfied and offers her another.

SCENE 3 Arnold informs Mr. Hooper that's he's brought a jar of mud from Lake Michigan to repay Oscar the Grouch for using his phone. Oscar sees the pair heading over to his trash can, and puts on a disguise so as not to be bothered. Upon their arrival, Oscar answers the Hoopers' knocks as Edgar, Oscar's hippo-sitter, who has blonde hair, glasses, and a mustache. The brothers see through Oscar's ruse, but humor him and leave him alone, announcing what they'd intended to give Oscar as they leave his can. Oscar is frustrated that he's bamboozled himself out of the jar of mud.

SCENE 5 Telly Monster overhears Arnold convincing Mr. Hooper to come back to Chicago with him and let someone else run the store. Mr. Hooper confirms the story and makes his way off to pack his bags. Panicking, Telly informs Big Bird that Mr. Hooper is going away forever and that he'll miss him. In a close case of telephone, the news makes its way from them, through Olivia, to Gordon. All concerned, they greet Mr. Hooper who is ready to leave with his packed bags. Laughing at the misunderstanding, Mr. Hooper assures them all that he's only visiting his brother for the weekend. Arnold is impressed at how well-liked his brother is on Sesame Street.

Cartoon A young bespectacled man with an accordion asks how much it costs to cross the bridge. The Bridgekeeper says admission is free, but requires that the young man show him three triangles. Two of them are found in the bridgework, and the man uses the bridgekeeper's staff to draw a third triangle in the dirt. Although the bridgekeeper has his order filled, he asks the man to play a tune on his accordion. This additional request takes the young man by surprise, but he is told to do so for the opportunity to cross the bridge.
