SCENE 1 | Maria, David, and Linda are chatting in front of Hooper's Store. The morning stillness is disrupted by loud noises, which Maria thinks is an old vehicle. She turns and sees it is an old red truck, with produce on the back and a "Farm Fresh Vegetables" sign. David says his grandmother has a truck like that, but blue. They spot someone repairing the truck underneath, and it is in fact his grandma Grace. She was on her way to deliver her crops when her truck broke down and "decided we should stop here for a visit."
Grace asks what they think of her new truck. Everyone tries to be polite by demurring that it's nice. Oscar, however, considers it beautiful: "Trash on wheels!" He offers to trade his taxi to Grace for it. | |

She shares her carrots, string beans, and pickles with everyone. After sampling the pickles, Grace then spoon-feeds cherry and strawberry jams to Big Bird and Telly.
