SCENE 1 | David is bored because there hasn't been a single customer at Hooper's Store all morning. Gladys the Cow drops in for a moment to rest her hooves, having just returned from a three-bus ride to the farmer's market for some hay. David points out the store sells hay, a fact Gladys forgot. As she leaves, Telly Monster comes in to show off the new umbrella he just got in Herald Square. David has one just like it for sale, even at the same price. Telly thinks he should write that down so he won't forget, and leaves to get a pencil and paper at a downtown store instead. David begins thinking of a way he can ensure people know Hooper's is the place they can get anything. | |

As he helps Telly, he receives submissions from a Honker ("Honk if you love Hooper's.") and a French Muppet ("Mr. Hooper's...where friends meet to greet and eat and buy car wax!").
