SCENE 2 Big Bird shows Gordon and Olivia a treasure map found in Mr. Snuffleupagus' cave, which the two will use to find some treasure. The grown-ups laugh it off and Big Bird vows to bring some treasure back as proof.
SCENE 2 cont'd At Snuffle Cavern, Big Bird and Snuffy begin their hunt. They follow the instructions on the map, but take the instructed paces in place instead of actually moving anywhere.

Muppets Ernie & BertErnie and Bert go off to sleep but Ernie starts to sing himself a lullaby. Bert then asks Ernie if he would mind singing quieter. So he does and then finds that he can even sing it the quietest. Bert then wonders what's going on and can't seem to go to sleep. Ernie then asks Bert if he's singing it to the extent that he can't hear him then why is he not asleep yet?

SCENE 3 The two are deep in the caves. The map indicates the treasure is marked with a square. Snuffy excitedly points to a shape on the ground, which turns out to be a circle. The map shows the circle is not far away and they keep venturing forward.

SCENE 4 The two reach a chest marked with the word "TREASURE." Because they can't read very well, they think it's just an oddly-marked box and think it's just in their way. As they move it, Snuffy spots the square right by it. They think the treasure has been stolen or moved, then realize the chest is the treasure chest after all. The open the chest and find a series of jewelry and gold coins. Neither of them wear jewelry and Big Bird is certain the bus drivers would never accept such currency, so the two consider the trip a total bust. They dig in the chest some more and find a pirate teddy bear, which they consider to be the real treasure. In order to get back home, the two start walking backwards the way they came.

SCENE 5 Big Bird returns to Sesame Street to show off the spoils of his journey. Olivia and Gordon again find his stories ridiculous, but once they leave, Big Bird discovers one of the useless-to-him coins stuck on the bear. He brings it back to his nest as Snuffy announces the sponsors, and the Barkley credit sequence follows.


  • Like Episode 1890, the credits erroneously have Barkley's barks played twice, since the closing footage begins earlier here than in the original episode.
