Picture Segment Description
SCENE 1 Don Music wheels a piano into the library. He tells Maria he's looking for song ideas, then notices she's reading a book about France. She says she's always wanted to visit France, and Don tries making up a song on the spot, but gives up midway through.
Don notices David reading a cookbook, and tries to make up a cooking song, but gives up again, realizing he doesn't know anything about cooking either.
Next, Don encounters Dr. Nobel Price reading a book about dinosaurs, but Don doesn't even try singing about dinosaurs. Maria suggests he read a book to learn more about something; Don gets inspired to write a song about reading books ...

Muppets Bob reads the story of a king and his three sons, to whom he bestows three, special gifts - a basket that is never emptied of food, a bird that knows all in the land and a horse that can travel anywhere. But, when they reunite, they find their separate gifts can't help them completely and realize that by cooperating, they'll know who needs food and a way to get there.

Finally he hears Gladys the Cow, who plays a variant of "When You're a Jet". He gets an idea and steps away ...
Animation A hand arranges blocks to form benches so a bunny and a chick can have tea.

Big Bird comes back, and tells the viewer to guess who's playing the piano. He steps out of the frame, plays "Mary Had a Pretty Bird" on the piano, and reveals it was him. He tries fooling the viewer two more times, as Forgetful announces the sponsors and the credits follow.


  • This is the first episode to utilize a new closing logo graphic with the Sesame Street logo flipping in, followed by the "CHILDREN'S TELEVISION WORKSHOP" words sliding in one by one. This would continue up until the end of season 26 (with the exception of repeat episodes that aired during seasons 27 and 28).
