SCENE 2 Maria and two kids plan to go inside Hooper's Store for a snack when a heroic theme swells, signaling another dramatic entrance by Captain Vegetable. Having heard the word "snack," the Captain plays a snack-themed rhyming game with the kids. He recites a poem and has the kids fill in the last word, which can be a fruit or vegetable from his "snack bag" (otherwise known as his "snack sack"). The final poem, however, doesn't have to do with food but with teeth. Maria is dubious that the Captain is carrying teeth in his bag, but he proves her wrong by producing a set of chattering teeth.

SCENE 3 Maria goes to check on Forgetful Jones, who's helping her in the Fix-It Shop. She finds him with a flower pot on his head, having mistaken it for his hat. Forgetful put his actual hat on top of the lamp he was trying to fix, as he correctly remembered that something should go there. Maria points him to the lampshade, placed on a cactus. They put everything in its proper place and test out the lamp. Maria flips the overhead light off and turns on the lamp, but Forgetful's nose lights up instead. Luckily, Maria can rewire noses.
