SCENE 1 | Oscar welcomes the viewer and shows off his great new invention: "Grouch earplugs." He's able to block out the pleasantries that he assumes Gordon and Susan are telling each other, when in reality the two are arguing about the important things they have to do today. Eventually, the couple makes up and figures out a compromise, and when Oscar's curiosity gets to him he removes the earplugs at the wrong time, hearing Gordon and Susan saying nice things before they leave. |
