SCENE 1 Bob readies his apartment for Eugene, a young monster student of his who will be sleeping over tonight while his parents are away. Although Eugene acts jovial when he arrives, he quickly breaks down over missing his parents. He and Bob go through his suitcase to find the thing that will make him feel better - his blanket, Softie. Eugene then goes on to describe all the things he wasn't able to bring (such as his goldfish Scaley, or his chest of drawers).

Seeking a change, he initiates a "New Royal Food Contest," with a hefty reward (half the kingdom and a trip to Bermuda). His subjects bring him many healthy foods and the King enjoys them all. They convince him to eat all the foods together, thus making a healthy meal and a healthier king.
