Although Eugene acts jovial when he arrives, he does admit that he misses his parents. He and Bob go through his suitcase to find the thing that will make him feel better - his blanket, Softie. Eugene then goes on to describe all the things he wasn't able to bring such as his goldfish Scaley, his chest of drawers, his bed, the kitchen table...
