SCENE 4 Gordon is still waiting when he is called over to the window by Susan. She informs him his mother just called and wants to talk to him. Gordon hesitantly goes inside to answer the phone after deciding it'll only take a minute. Just as he leaves, Mr. Snuffleupagus walks up to Oscar's can. Aghast, Oscar observes that his voice, snuffle, eyes, and fur are all real. He suddenly bursts into a shout, letting the street know that he is indeed real (as well as interrupting Gordon's phone call). Snuffy mistakes Oscar for Gordon, and decides to leave after concluding their meeting is over. Oscar tries to stall and make him stay for Gordon to see, but Snuffy finds Oscar's invitations much too nice for him to be a grouch, and he splits the scene. Just then, Gordon comes back and hears from Oscar all about his encounter, but assumes it's just another fib to make him leave.
