Film | A baby messes around (literally) with a chocolate cookie, as Cookie Monster (in voice-over) wishes it were for him. (First: Episode 0407) cut from the Noggin version
SCENE 1 | Everybody on Sesame Street prepares for Miles' arrival in their own ways. A deliveryman (Martin P. Robinson) drops off extra diapers and baby food for David at Hooper's Store, while Maria and Luis set up a play pen by the tire swing, much to Barkley's delight.
SCENE 1, cont'd |
Meanwhile, Oscar tells Irvine that she'll soon have a new grouchy baby to play with, and that Slimey's baby sister Stella will be able to join them too. Irvine makes a fuss at the thought (as is natural for a Grouch baby), which also causes Stella to start crying. Oscar is satisfied with this, until he hears party horns and cheers at Big Bird's nest. ("Do I hear happiness?!")
SCENE 1 cont'd |
Sure enough, Big Bird and Telly are preparing a surprise party for Miles using some of Snuffy's enormous baby things. Big Bird goes over the "surprise" procedure with Telly, but then Telly wonders if Snuffy's old toys are too big for Miles - after all, Snuffleupagus babies are bigger than human babies. Big Bird reassures him that Miles is 11 months old by now, so he's bigger than a newborn baby. He then proceeds to explain the adoption process to Telly. Afterwards, Big Bird spots Susan and Gordon getting ready to pick up Miles, and thinks he should ask them if Miles can come to the party - "I'll tell them it's for a game of Mahjong. They'll never guess."
SCENE 1 cont'd |
Big Bird encounters the couple getting their pictures taken by Olivia for the baby book. When Big Bird asks if Miles can just stroll over to his nest area, Gordon explains that Miles isn't old enough to go places by himself. Big Bird then runs off to check on something. As they get in the car, Gordon, Susan, and Olivia remark that Big Bird is acting strange and presumably feeling left out.
SCENE 1 cont'd |
Big Bird explains to Telly what he just heard from Gordon. Big Bird wonders, "Why is it that things are never like you imagine them?"

SCENE 2 | Big Bird and Telly prepare birdseed punch for their guests, and use up all the birdseed. Telly worries that Susan and Gordon will run out of love, just like they can run out of birdseed. Big Bird says that's ridiculous -- love isn't like birdseed -- but he promises to ask Susan and Gordon, who have just arrived home.
SCENE 2 cont'd |
Everyone gathers to meet Miles, but first Gordon and Susan have to feed and change him in their apartment. Gordon convinces everyone that they'll bring Miles out later once he's settled in then invites Big Bird to join them, leaving Telly outside to fret. "You could use up a lot of love on a baby like that..."
SCENE 2 cont'd |
Susan and Gordon change the baby's diaper while Olivia excitedly takes pictures. Big Bird tries to ask Telly's question but gets interrupted during the process. He ends up with a can of baby powder in his beak when Gordon asks, "Could you hold onto this, please?"
SCENE 3 | As Telly still waits for Big Bird to come back with the answer, Big Bird tries again to ask Telly's question while Susan gives Miles a bath. Instead, Susan asks Big Bird to get his bottle, causing him to complain. "Boy, it sure is hard to get anyone to answer a question around here!"
SCENE 4 | On his way to find Big Bird, Telly meets Slimey's baby sister Stella and is enchanted with her. Oscar says that maybe now Telly can be Stella's friend, instead of bothering Oscar. Telly realizes that he'll still love Oscar just as much, but now he has some new love for Stella. Now he understands that Susan and Gordon will do the same. "Oh, Oscar!" he cries passionately, "Love is not like birdseed!" He rushes out to find Big Bird, while Oscar admits to himself that Stella is kind of cute.
SCENE 4 cont'd |
Gordon and Susan watch Miles as he sleeps. Big Bird tries once again to ask the question, but they tell him to be quiet. Big Bird decides that maybe they are too busy to love him now.
SCENE 4 cont'd |
Gordon realizes that Big Bird is worried, and he takes him outside to talk about his feelings. Big Bird finally asks the question, and Gordon answers by singing "I'll Never Run Out of Love." When the song is done, Gordon explains that time is also an issue, and he may not have as much time to see Big Bird as he used to.
