SCENE 1 | Telly Monster and a few kids hear some unique vocalizing; sounds they've never heard before on Sesame Street. They approach what Telly describes as "some kind of bird," a simplification the voice objects to, who introduces himself as Placido Flamingo from Santo Domingo, world famous opera star. He explains that opera is music β a singing story β and proceeds to lead Telly and the kids in a vocal lesson. After they get it right, Placido casts them in his all-flamingo opera. Telly is nervous about singing in front of people, but Placido encourages him to practice, and to "sing with feeling; sing with fire!" |
