SCENE 1 | Maria welcomes the viewer as she fans herself with a magazine, upset by the extreme heat today. Oscar calls her over and shows her the new Grouch fan he installed above his trash can. He guarantees it works, and has Maria to pull on the nearby rope to activate it. She pulls and pulls, which keeps Oscar nice and cool but makes her even hotter and tired. She gets upset with Oscar, who clarifies - it's a Grouch fan, so it only works for Grouches. An enraged Maria advises the viewer to look away as she tries thrashing Oscar with her rolled-up magazine. | |
