	SCENE 1	Big Bird and Elmo beg Maria to take them to "The Best Friend Game Show," a television program where contestants talk about their best friends. Maria promises to take them tomorrow, when Elmo asks if he can call Maria his best friend. Maria is very flattered... but moments later, by Hooper's Store, Elmo asks the same of Bob.

After asking Big Bird several questions (and interrupting him in the process), Snuffy learns that he's not being very helpful and takes the kids over to the yard so Big Bird can concentrate on his very important task.

	SCENE 3	Telly interrupts Oscar and Grundgetta's argument to ask if Oscar would be his best friend for the game show. Oscar declines wanting to do such a nice favor when suddenly Grundgetta offers to do it instead, realizing how rotten it would make Oscar feel. Telly disappointedly leaves until he bumps into Elmo, who asks him to be his best friend for the show. Once Telly is cheered up and leaves, Elmo immediately asks the same of David.

Elsewhere, Elmo asks Gordon if he'd like to be Elmo's best friend for the show. As he goes off, flattered, Elmo asks the same of Susan.
