SCENE 3 | Luis and the cowpokes have had a great time at lunch. He wonders about the origin of the holiday, and Forgetful shows him the origin book, The Story of Forgettinest Jones or How Take a Cowboy/Cowgirl to Lunch Day Began. In the story, all the other cowboys and cowgirls are upset that Forgettinest (Forgetful's great, great grandfather) always forgets his lunch and takes parts of everyone else's. He arrives at the saloon, without lunch as usual, but is shot down by his friends who've had enough of his forgetting. As he exits, he spots a stampede of sheep heading toward the joint and warns everybody, who quickly take cover as the sheep trample through. All the cowpokes thank him by sharing their lunch and declare him a hero before promptly taking a nap. |
