	SCENE 1	Everyone is gathered in the yard to talk about times when they were afraid.
	SCENE 1 cont’d	Telly recalls a time (in a flashback) when he was over at Gordon and Susan's apartment for dinner. He accidentally breaks a plate and is afraid Susan will be angry with him. Instead, she is very understanding and forgiving.
	SCENE 1 cont’d	Back in the present, Susan muses that Telly’s experience happens to a lot of kids.

	SCENE 2	Maria now tells a story from a few weeks prior, where she was taking care of Miles for the evening. She hears a knock on the door and becomes afraid as to who could be on the other side, especially when the party doesn't answer her. It turns out to be Linda.

	SCENE 4	The Count comes by to count everybody, and is surprised to see that his thunder frightens Jonathan. Bob explains where thunder comes from, and says that whenever they hear thunder and lightning (besides the Count's) they should go inside to stay safe. As a courtesy, the Count will keep his thunder in check around Jonathan. Two of his bats (Louisville and Slugger) flutter in and Bob admits that he's afraid of bats, while Jonathan isn't. The Count counts his bats, punctuated with the sounds of a music box instead.

Notes

• The music box tune that plays to substitute the Count's thunder and lightning is "I Could Have Danced All Night," which he and the Countess would parody later as "I Could Have Counted All Night."
