SCENE 1 | Simon Soundman is out for a stroll on such a lovely day. He suddenly finds himself party to Susan's hectic rush to meet Gordon at the bus stop. She pulls up in the car, with Miles and his toy fire engine in tow. She permits Maria to watch over Miles while he takes Barkley on a quick walk for Linda. Just as she brings him out, the phone rings and she asks Simon to watch Barkley. Gordon arrives and Simon explains the whole matter in his usual fashion. When Susan comes out and tries to explain, Gordon repeats Simon's story, sound effects and all. "That fellow has a very interesting way of talking," notices Simon. |
