Picture Segment Description

SCENE 1 Gina rushes to Hooper's Store, asking David if she can get off work today. She excitedly tells him her favorite rock group, Little Jerry and the Monotones, is going to be visiting today and shows him a letter from Little Jerry himself informing her of it. David allows her the day off, when they suddenly hear the sounds of music. Sure enough, Little Jerry and the band come down the block singing "Rock 'N Roll Star." Gina passes out from excitement.

SCENE 2 Gina, David, and the kids gather to have a chat with Little Jerry. Gina asks where they get their ideas for their songs. Little Jerry recalls just the other day, he realized most of his big hit songs are about feelings. He describes them, cutting away to verses from "Proud," "Sad" and "Mad." Little Jerry then experiences all those emotions all over again.

Grover will get on top of a platform, and Mumford will pull the pillar off from underneath, and the platform will not fall. The trick works, so Grover decides to try it himself, with Herry Monster as his assistant. Grover can't pull it off, and Herry falls.

Little Jerry claims the secret is to know how to rhyme and demonstrates using the lyrics to the theme song. He and the Monotones then close out the show with a performance of the first verse. Elmo announces the sponsors.


  • Kevin Clash performs Big Jeffie in this episode.
  • In this episode, the band appears as a trio, with Chrissy and Rockin' Richard replaced with another Fat Blue Monotone named Richie (performed by Richard Hunt). This was his only appearance with the group. A photo of the trio as they appeared in this episode can be found in the Rock & Roll! VHS in Jackman Wolf's studio, a video also featuring a prominent story with Little Jerry and his band. Gina has the same picture, only autographed, in Episode 2595.
