SCENE 1 | Elmo asks Bob and Gina why they are wearing bathrobes; they correct him, saying they're actually called kimonos. The son of one of Bob's best friends named Hiroshi is visiting from Japan, and they want to make him feel at home. They've decorated the yard with paper lanterns, plan to serve fish, rice, and tea for lunch, and they practice greeting him by saying "Konnichiwa, Hiroshi-san." Hiroshi arrives wearing a sweater and a baseball cap, speaks fluent English, and wants a hamburger for lunch. Elmo doesn't believe this is really Hiroshi from Japan until Hiroshi explains that Japanese people wear sweaters and eat hamburgers sometimes, too. They all decide to go for some burgers over at Hooper's Store. | |
