Picture Segment Description

SCENE 1 At night, Big Bird, Elmo, the Count, Maria, and Luis are all having dinner outside of Hooper's Store. At the head of the table are Maria's mother, Mrs. Figueroa, and Luis' uncle, Tío José, who will be guests at the wedding in two days. Whenever Tío José tells stories of when Luis was a little boy, the Count counts up the wise, perceptive and intelligent things Luis said.
Just then, Big Bird introduces the viewers to the two visitors, and explains why they're here. It's been a great day so far, but it didn't start out great. When The Count counts four people trying to tell the story all at once, Maria and Luis proceed to take turns narrating a flashback ...

... in which Mrs. Figueroa and Tío José arrive at the airport at the same time. But they had never met before, so they were just strangers to each other, arguing over who needs a taxi more, acting like a pair of Grouches. Speaking of Grouches, whom should turn up at this time, but none other than Oscar in his Sloppy Jalopy, to drive both of them to Sesame Street. They soon learn that Mrs. Figueroa's daughter Maria and Jose's nephew Luis are getting married ...
Back in the present, Jose remarks, "It was not a very auspicious beginning, but ultimately, favorable." Now he and Mrs. Figueroa are both friends.
