In the morning, Barnaby surprises his mother with breakfast in bed. They are happy, until they realize that Mr. Heartstrong is missing, which makes them sad. They are further saddened by the lack of a fork. Mr. Heartstrong comes back from his run, feeling happy, until he sees his wife and son both sad. They are once again happy when they see that Mr. Heartstrong has brought back a bag of forks from the store.
