SCENE 1 While gushing over how nice it is today, Maria habitually picks a piece of lint from Oscar's shoulder. He gets angry and she puts it back, which is exactly what he expects to happen as he enjoys complaining about it. Uncle Wally spoils the mood when he compliments Oscar on the lint instead. Oscar tosses it away in frustration and Wally decides to wear it himself.

Muppets Grover is the newest employee of a fast food franchise which serves such delicacies as O'Fish, O'Salad, O'Rye Bread, and O'Milk. However, this is a different kind of "fast food" restaurant: the food zips by the customer on trays across the counter, and falls to the floor if it's not caught in time. Mr. Johnson is not ready for this, so he asks if there's any "slow food." There is, but it's served by a turtle who takes longer than Mr. Johnson wants to wait.

SCENE 3 Big Bird notices that Bob has two different socks on. Bob notes that every time he does the laundry, he loses another sock and jokes that there must be someone snatching them up. Inspired, Big Bird comes up with another saga in the continuing adventures of Blue Bird!

SCENE 3 cont'd The patrons of the local laundromat (including Maria, Bob, and Gina) are all missing one sock. Blue Bird crashes through the ceiling to help, heroically stating, "I meant to do that; anyone can land in the street." Disguised as a pile of laundry, he stakes out a nearby dryer when the nefarious Sock Snatcher (Richard Libertini) sneaks in. He swipes socks from everyone's collection until he catches Blue Bird's attention. A chase ensues until Blue Bird finally apprehends him. Blue Bird disposes of the Sock Snatcher by sliding him across a table into some boxes of soap as if he were bowling, finally landing the criminal into a hamper. The patrons retrieve their socks as Blue Bird takes off back into the skies.

Bert says that there is a blackout, but has to repeat himself when Ernie suggests they watch TV, play a record, and listen to the radio. Ernie decides to call someone to see if anybody else knows about it. He calls Oscar the Grouch, who grouchily asks who's calling and threatens to "see to it that you don't sleep for a week." Ernie says "It's Bert" and hangs up.
