Picture Segment Description

SCENE 1 Shelley the Turtle is about to welcome the viewer to Sesame Street, when Barkley's presence frightens him into his shell. Gordon asks Shelley to come out and say hi to Barkley, but he declines. Linda takes Barkley for a walk, so that Gordon can take Shelley to Hooper's and talk to him.

When they use reverse psychology and ask him to speak up, he does come out, and this time admits he's afraid of Barkley.

Shelley appears convinced at first, but then he ducks back into his shell. Gordon and Gina suggest that he talk to Barkley and pet him, and Gina pretends to be a dog so he can practice. He's not as afraid anymore, but he ducks away again when the real Barkley shows up.
