SCENE 1 Luis attempts to teach baby Gabi to say "Dad" by showing her a card with the word on it. Maria thinks it won't work, since she's too young to read or talk at this point. He leaves to open the Fix-It Shop, and once he's gone, she writes "Mom" on the other side of the "Dad" card and attempts to teach Gabi to say "Mom."

It's too soft!"), and the light ("It's too bright! It's too dark!") when husband Luis Locks assures her that all of those things are "just right." Big Bird learns that Gabi can't talk yet, but to Maria's astonishment, he thinks he heard her say "Oscar."
