SCENE 1 Telly Monster has a question for Gordon - does he know the Muffin Man? Gordon responds with a "no." Telly launches into a spiel about the song and how the lyrical question is never answered and he wants to find the answer. When he finally does meet the Muffin Man, he has confetti and music prepared. He sets off to ask others if they know the Muffin Man, but asks Gordon one more important question - what is a muffin man?

SCENE 2 Telly has gotten no answers from anyone on Sesame Street about the identity of the muffin man. Gordon tries to explain that he's merely a made-up character, but Telly insists on finding him himself. He instead mistakes a mail carrier and police officer for the Muffin Man. Just as Telly loses hope, the kids introduce him to a baker, who just so happens to bake muffins. Telly declares him the Muffin Man and celebrates.
