SCENE 1 Big Bird discovers a pair of sleeping birds in his nest. They wake up and introduce themselves as Peter-Paul and Marilou. Peter-Paul begins to explain how they've been flying south for the winter and need some rest, when Marilou suggests they sing instead. The two birds proceed to sing about how they've flown 40 miles from home. Big Bird allows them to stay and rest.

Big Bird leads them to Hooper's Store, while Snuffy stays behind with Alice, who's fallen asleep herself.
Cartoon A hippo who lives in the country, and likes it quiet, is disturbed when a mouse, who likes it loud, moves in.

SCENE 3 Gina comes over to the outside table to take the birds' order. They open their mouths wide, acting as if a mother bird is going to feed them. Peter-Paul apologizes and, at the suggestion of Marilou, sings a song about how they used to be fed. Since they're so used to being fed, Gina acts like a mother bird to feed them their birdseed.

They hang up and head off, though Big Bird assumes their trip is going to be longer than expected.
