As the show begins, Placido plays the mayor as he and his townspeople (including Gordon and Lillian) welcome La Grouchiata to town. However, they want her to leave when they see how grouchy she is. After Snuffy belts out his note to silence the quarrel, the mayor encourages everyone to let La Grouchiata stay, as theirs is a town of all kinds. The opera ends to thunderous applause from the audience, Grundgetta announces the sponsors, and the credits follow. So ends the 22nd season of Sesame Street. |
