SCENE 1 At Hooper's Store, Big Bird tells Gina, Evelyn, and Arlana that Mother Goose will be meeting him there today. Gina guesses how she might be traveling, as they hear the sounds of a car, a bike, and an airplane outside; Big Bird confirms that none of these are her means of transportation. Just then, they hear a goose honking (which is how she got her name), announcing her arrival.

Maria wonders what happened to all those nursery rhyme characters, and MG shows her a scrapbook documenting what they all grew up to be. In song ("When I Grow Up"), she reveals that Little Jack Horner became a cook, Jill (of Jack and Jill fame) became a doctor, and Little Miss Muffet became a bug-and-spider specialist.
