Once Oscar thinks that's the last of it, he hears the loud noise of a jackhammer. He tells a Grouch construction worker (Fran Brill) to quiet down, explaining that normally he likes loud noises, but not today. Being a Grouch herself, the worker denies Oscar's request and keeps drilling. Oscar laments, "Sometimes Grouches are no fun at all!" | |

In Oscar's dream, he has a bottle of "Sound Off" spray which, when sprayed on something, eliminates its ability to make noise. A grouchy Gordon shows up with a hammer, hoping to bother Oscar by banging on his can with it. As he proceeds with his hammering, Oscar sprays the Sound Off on the hammer and Gordon fails to make any noise when banging; he walks off sobbing, upset that his favorite activity is ruined. The same thing happens when a grouchy Bob shows up with his "Banging and Tooting Band" who bang on some pots and pans. | |

Back in the present, Bob and Gordon tiptoe by and briefly notice Oscar talking in his sleep again. | |

He sees the Bad Humor Man walk away and wishes he had his ice cream, tossing the bottle of Sound Off away in anguish. | |
