Picture Segment Description

SCENE 1 Gordon and Susan have a problem, which makes Big Bird happy; since they're often helping him, he can try and help them for a change. The couple's apartment is being painted and they had planned on staying the night at Jamal and Angela's apartment, but their baby Kayla just came down with a case of the chicken pox. Miles is staying at a friend's house so he's taken care of, but Susan and Gordon still need a place to stay.

Big Bird suggests they go to Hawaii, though he realizes it's too far away just to spend one night. He then imagines giving his nest or the park a try, but pictures both having disastrous results: he thinks that a pet shop truck could hit a bump and pelt the two with flying (stuffed) cats and dogs at his nest, while a freak storm can bury them in snow at the park. He finally realizes the perfect place: the Furry Arms Hotel! Susan is very much against the idea, but Gordon notes that it's their best option. "What's the worst thing that could happen - we'd have to share a room with a flock of basketball-playing chickens?" Gordon jokes, and he and Susan grab their luggage and leave.

SCENE 1 cont'd Big Bird feels proud that he was able to help his friends when a chicken in a jersey and whistle shows up asking where the Furry Arms Hotel is. Big Bird points them around the corner, and the chicken and her team make their way there.

SCENE 2 Gordon and Susan arrive at the Furry Arms Hotel, though they have a rough time entering through the Muppet-sized revolving door. Susan finds the accommodations bizarre (she spots some livestock on the upper balcony) when Miss Netherland reveals they have five rooms left. Managers Humphrey and Ingrid remind her of the chicken basketball team who made reservations; said team enters the hotel and general chaos ensues. Humphrey and Ingrid begin to panic until Gordon points out that there are only four chickens and five rooms, so Humphrey and Ingrid count them to make sure. They have trouble at first with the chickens running around until the team's whistle is blown and they line up. After counting four chickens, everyone begins to relax until a fifth chicken comes out of the team's egg-shaped suitcase, requesting a room near the ice machine.

SCENE 3 Gordon asks Susan to stay at the hotel as he goes to see whether they can stay over at Maria and Luis' apartment. Humphrey and Ingrid then inform Susan that the chickens are having a party, and Susan is roped into working at the front desk while they spread the lounge with gravel. Henny Drummschtick, a rooster comedian who was hired for the party, shows up and introduces himself. He gives Susan a taste of one of his latest "jokes," which just turns out to be the process of how chickens produce eggs. Susan doesn't find it funny, and Henny realizes he forgot something: he dons a pair of Groucho glasses and repeats his routine, which sends the other hotel residents into hysterics.

SCENE 4 Gordon returns to the hotel with some bad news for Susan: Maria and Luis aren't at home, and Bob and Mr. Handford are also unable to help them. Humphrey and Ingrid show up with suggestions as to where they can stay: Hawaii, Big Bird's nest, and the park. They end up coming to the same conclusions as Big Bird had before (including the wild fantasies Big Bird had about cats and dogs and snowstorms). While they ponder another option, a pig (Brian Muehl) complains to Humphrey and Ingrid about the maid service - his room gets cleaned every day, so he's checking out of the hotel. Susan and Gordon become excited that there's finally a vacant room, but first bellhop Benny has to move the pig's many, many bags of luggage out of the room.

(First: Episode 0446)
Cartoon Two hippie kids wonder how to make their droopy plant grow.

SCENE 5 Benny is still moving the pig's luggage out of the room when Miss Netherland gives Susan and Gordon a suggestion on how they can speed things up: they can say the alphabet. The couple doesn't see how this could help when a sheep (Fran Brill) shows up and asks where she can get a taxi. Susan sarcastically suggests that the sheep can say the alphabet. The sheep says it, and a taxi driver (Jim Kroupa) arrives in no time. Miss Netherland then gets a flash of inspiration of how Susan and Gordon can get a room right away, and tells Humphrey and Ingrid that they have to prepare it.

SCENE 6 While Benny continues to remove the pig's luggage, Susan and Gordon argue with Miss Netherland that the hotel lobby is not the ideal place to stay. Miss Netherland, Humphrey, and Ingrid point out how the lobby is a space with walls, a ceiling, and a floor, so technically it is a room. As Susan and Gordon prepare for a long night on the lobby floor, Henny Drummschtick begins his act in the lounge to an uproarious crowd. To add insult, after Henny announces the sponsors, Benny returns for his break and joins Gordon and Susan in sleeping on the floor.
