SCENE 1, cont'd In the story, the Queen Grouch vies to be the grouchiest Grouch in the land instead of her rival, the Green Grouch of Yucchingham. She concocts a batch of magic onion-anchovy-pickle cookies that turn the Green Grouch into Prince Charming and his trash can into a castle, but a Grouch princess comes to rescue him after five Grouchketeers say the alphabet and she waves her magic pocketbook.
3141f

3141g
SCENE 1, cont'd Oscar becomes indignant, saying that was the most ridiculous thing he ever heard; Ruthie happens to have a box of the magic cookies in her store and produces them. Oscar shows up Ruthie by eating one of the magic cookies, and suddenly turns into Prince Charming! He politely requests a horse so he can return to his castle, and Telly and Ruthie wonder if Oscar's home has changed as well. They rush to find out... but first, "Prince Oscar" decides to ride Telly over there instead. ("Princes don't walk!")
