Picture Segment Description
COLD OPEN Today, Jamal will be taking Big Bird, Telly, Carlo, Kerri, and Lonnell to the park, where they will be "rangers for a day." While they wait, Big Bird introduces today's sponsors and tries out his new binoculars (not realizing the covers are still over the lenses).
SCENE 1 Jamal has joined the group with a bird in hand. He details how he found the bird when it was much younger, where it was injured following Hurricane Polly. He took it to a bird doctor, who helped the bird's injured leg by putting it in a cast; Telly recalls going through the same process. But now, the bird is healed and ready to be released back into the park. Everyone volunteers to free it, but Jamal permits Carlo (the oldest of the youngsters) to free the bird. He tells the rest they can contribute by preparing some goodbye poems for the bird.

Everyone recites their goodbye poems to the bird before Carlo sets it off. They watch as the bird soars into the sky, quickly joining a flock of surrounding birds. Telly is so moved by the ceremony, he wishes to set free something else. He gets an idea but needs to go back to his apartment first. Jamal is still on the clock, so Carlo and the kids accompany Telly back to Sesame Street, while Big Bird follows Jamal to check out a new baby animal (another ranger duty).

While Carlo holds a "Good Luck" flower arrangement (procured from Ruthie), Telly gives an emotional speech to his beloved plant and recites his goodbye poem. Jamal, Big Bird, and the others catch up to them in the midst of Telly's spiel. Everyone points out how there are elements of the country flora and fauna all over the city on Sesame Street, meaning Telly doesn't need to surrender his plant after all (to his delight).
