SCENE 4 cont'd | Ruthie tells the story of Old King Cole, who would mock his staff for being so different and give them names like "Blue Nose" and "Funny Talker." Their feelings hurt, everybody quits on him. Suddenly, he gets a visit from his Fairy Godmother (Ruthie) who explains what he did was wrong. He doesn't seem to care and makes fun of her too, causing her to abandon him as well. Soon enough, King Cole becomes sad because there's no one around to bring him his pipe and bowl and fiddle for him - but worst of all, he has no friends. His Fairy Godmother returns and summons his friends so he can apologize and promise never to call anyone names again. | |
