SCENE 4 | Zoe finds a lamp at Ruthie's sale, which once belonged to Aladdin until he set the genie with the light blue hair free. Ruthie explains how one could've rubbed the lamp and say "Wicketyquogue Pequannock" to summon the genie, who would then grant three wishes. Zoe rubs it and says the magic words even though Ruthie believes the lamp is empty, but to everyone's surprise the Ed Wynn-esque genie (Brian Muehl) is released from the lamp (he had returned to collect his bowling ball)! Zoe uses her first two wishes to make him do his "POP" entrance again and again (similar to Oscar's can banging earlier). Gina notices how the genie's "pops" tend to be a pain for him, and the genie wishes his headache would go away... which Zoe makes her third wish. He feels so great, he continues popping in and out pro bono. |
