COLD OPEN As Gina locks up Hooper's Store, Elmo and Rosita tell the viewers they are excited because the three of them are visiting the library to read a story.
SCENE 1 Linda meets the trio as they arrive in the library. She asks if Gina is going to stay for the story, but she has to return to work, despite Elmo's pleas to stay. Jesse enters, making sure everyone's here to read the story, including Gina, who he immediately has a crush on. She says she won't be at the reading, and Elmo tells Jesse she has to go to work. With Gina leaving, they head off to read the story.

SCENE 2 Jesse, Elmo, Rosita and some kids sit at a table ready to read the story. Jesse reveals they will be reading Play With Me, by Marie Hall Ets. Before they proceed, Gina rushes in to tell Jesse she'll be working at Hooper's Store if he needs anything. After he finishes reading the story, interlaced with still pictures from the book, everyone loves the book so much that they want their own copy. Luckily enough, Jesse has brought his own copies and hands them to everyone.

SCENE 3 Gina returns from Hooper's Store to see Elmo and Rosita at the counter, holding their copies of the story. Linda tells her that Jesse went home, and Gina admits that she likes him, causing Elmo and Rosita to believe she is in love with him. Linda suggests she take him on an outing, but initially refuses since she doesn't have his telephone number. Linda puts his library card and a telephone in front of her. Gina calls him, and asks if they'd like to get together. He invites her for a picnic in the afternoon, and the date is set. In the meantime, Elmo and Rosita request her to read the story to them.

SCENE 4 The two meet in the arbor, and are joined by Elmo and Rosita, who brought several activities to do for the picnic. Elmo asks what Jesse and Gina brought, which are just sandwiches and juice. Elmo and Rosita are disappointed, saying, "You call that a picnic?" They then learn that the picnic was meant for just Gina and Jesse. They decide to go without them, but Jesse doesn't want to make them feel bad, saying there's no law for picnics to be for grown-ups. They invite them to come along.
Cartoon The detective sees a lever, and thinks about what might happen if he pulls the lever, being prepared for anything.

SCENE 5 At the picnic, they all finish their lunch. Jesse asks what to do next. Elmo suggests frisbee, but Rosita reminds him they don't want to do that. Instead, she accidentally tells him they intend to kiss, causing him to think they really love each other. Gina tells them that they don't, because they just met, and that you can't love somebody unless you really know them. Jesse reiterates, then states, "But, then there's falling in love..."
Cartoon Fluffy recalls being a homeless dog, getting taken in to the dog pound, and meeting his new pal Petey.

SCENE 6 The four return to the Arbor. Jesse asks Gina if they would like to go to the movies tomorrow night. Even though Rosita and Elmo can't, Gina happily accepts the invitation, stating, "I would love to go to the movies!" A shocked Elmo asks to the viewers, "Did Gina say love?" They all give each other hugs, and Jesse says goodbye to his new girlfriend. Hoots the Owl announces the sponsors.
