SCENE 1 Rosita and Telly observe Gina and Jesse as they walk past the playground together. Rosita, being the romantic, believes that they will soon stop, gaze into each others eyes and Jesse will confess his love for Gina. They do the first two things, but instead part ways, intending to meet up later. Rosita is determined to find out why they didn't express their love for each other.
Cartoon Fluffy recalls being a homeless dog, getting taken in to the dog pound, and meeting his new pal Petey.

Ruthie eggs on the monsters in their pursuit and inadvertently gives them an idea to make Jesse less shy enough to admit he loves Gina. Gina isn't sure it's a good idea, but Ruthie soothes her: "They're just kids. What harm could they do?"

They describe it in detail: the sun was shining on a nice July day in the park, where there was a nice breeze and singing birds and suddenly, the words "I love you" just came out of Gordon's mouth. The monsters make sure they remember all those elements and run off.

Jesse calls her back over to tell another part he loved: when the hero confesses his love for the female co-star. He and Gina share a hug, which the monsters consider a successful first step. Jesse happily strolls back to the subway, while Telly and Rosita announce the sponsors.
