COLD OPEN | The scene begins with a logo: the words "Telly's Town" take up the screen, as a rainbow trail rotates behind them. Telly chants, "Telly's Town! Telly's Town! Music time! Excellent!" and mimics a guitar solo. Telly invites Big Bird to join him in his "totally amazing, excellent music video show." Big Bird tries doing what Telly did at the beginning to get the vibe and succeeds. Telly explains that the show's vocabulary consists of terms like "cool," "excellent," "hey dude," and of course "excellent."
SCENE 1 | Big Bird (now using a pillow as a pretend drum) wonders if all they do on the show is say its name, but Telly explains that they'll have excellent videos and live musical guests. He then announces today's guests: the Four Tuba Guys! He and Big Bird perform the show's theme as a fanfare.

The Four Tuba Guys (the only rock and roll tuba group to exist) don't show up, but instead Telly and Big Bird find themselves face to face with a deliveryman, Wayne (Mike Myers). The telegram from the band says their plane has been delayed, and they will now be traveling by train.

Big Bird calls for an extreme close-up on Telly as he panics, but as it turns out, Wayne plays the tuba himself ("This telegram gig is just a stopover on my way to stardom! I'm gonna be the best ever heavy metal tuba guy in the world!"). He even brought a couple of his tuba-playing friends: a Garth-esque green monster with glasses (Joey Mazzarino), and Slimey. That only makes up three players, but if they add Telly to the group, they can be four tuba guys themselves! Big Bird gives the group an introduction and they all play the Sesame Street Theme, with Wayne performing an impressive tuba solo. Big Bird announces the sponsors. |
