Picture Segment Description

SCENE 1 Oscar brings his toaster to the Fix-It Shop for repair (it won't burn his toast), but Maria has stepped out, leaving Gabi to mind the store. Oscar doesn't mind waiting (he prefers it), when two characters announce their presence - The Prince and the Pig. They claim to be great characters from the greatest story every told...only it hasn't been written yet. They ask Oscar to write their story, but he naturally declines. Gabi, despite being pressed for time, decides to help and gets a pad and pen. But, how will their story go?

SCENE 2 Gabi finishes writing and reads what she's created so far. The Prince and the Pig visit Numberland to count to 10. They count on the numbered flags and discover the "7" is missing!
SCENE 2 cont'd The story gets cut short when Maria returns and sends Gabi to her piano lesson. The Prince and the Pig are sad and ask Maria to finish it, but she has already promised to fix Oscar's toaster. Oscar refuses as well and tells Maria he'll be back later. The Prince and Pig call out in distress for a writer.

SCENE 3 In the arbor, the Price and Pig ask Oscar to help write their story, but he again turns them down. They then ask Elmo, who doesn't know how to write, but he dictates the story to Mr. Handford.
SCENE 3 cont'd In Elmo's continuation of the story, the Prince and Pig meet the two-headed Elmford, who likes to find things. They argue over which way to go and decide to compromise and stay put.
SCENE 3 cont'd Afterward, Elmo is called to help his mommy and Mr. Handford returns to work, leaving the duo without an author once more.

SCENE 5 As the story continues, the Prince and Pig pass the Grouch test by wearing smelly gym socks on their noses, rolling in the mud and yelling "Wubba wubba!" They're able to count all the way to 10, thus ending their story. Oscar hopes they hated the story, but they love it; they want him to write all their stories from now on! Mr. Handford announces the sponsors.
