Picture Segment Description
SCENE 1 Telly waits for Baby Bear as they have an all-day playdate planned. Bob comes by with Barkley, and Telly has fun cuddling with him. Mara and Carla also come over with a doggie treat and some back scratches for Barkley. Telly observes how fun it seems to be a dog and wants to be one, but Bob tries to tell him being a dog is very hard; Telly's mind is already made up, and he observes Barkley and tries to do what he does.
Cartoon A dog tries desperately to meow, but can only bark.

SCENE 2 "Telly Dog" has perfected his dog impersonation as Bob and Barkley leave. Baby Bear arrives and is confused to see his best friend barking and panting. Baby Bear isn't too keen on the idea of Telly being a dog, even when Telly reminds him that he always wanted a dog for a pet but Papa Bear doesn't think he's ready for it - this could be good practice. Baby Bear gives it a try and they start counting together, Baby Bear saying the numbers and Telly barking the right amount.
Film The McDoubles (Batty and Crooky) count to 10 on their fingers.

SCENE 4 Alan plays along as he and Baby Bear try to guess what Telly Dog wants. Telly hands Alan an issue of Berry Nice magazine with strawberries on the cover and indicates he wants something you can lick and is cold. They deduce he wants a strawberry ice cream cone, but Telly Dog realizes that dogs can't hold ice cream cones and he can't eat it unless he's Telly Monster again. Alan remembers having a dog, and he would sometimes put food in front of them so they could eat, and this method works with Telly. Baby Bear wonders when Telly will stop pretending when suddenly, a small cat (Peter Linz) runs past them being chased by Barkley (and Bob); Telly Dog decides to run after them, too!

SCENE 7 Barkley loses sight of the cat, and he and Bob decide to go home for a rest. Telly Dog and Baby Bear also return but Baby Bear is getting tired of Telly pretending to be a dog and wants his best friend back. He decides not to play anymore, but can't bring himself to it when he sees how sad it makes Telly feel. He relents and starts scratching Telly Dog's back, remarking, "I think this is the beginning of a very weird friendship."

SCENE 9 Baby Bear has grown more into loving the idea of playing with Telly Dog. He thinks that he could make a great pet, and thinks of the various scenarios Telly would be involved in - eating and sleeping on the floor, watching others boing on pogo sticks, etc. Telly Dog finally breaks character and wants to be Telly Monster, realizing the life of a dog isn't always fun. Baby Bear is sad at first, but ultimately happy to have his best friend back.
