Picture Segment Description

SCENE 1 Big Bird, Snuffy, and Gordon greet the viewer at Big Bird's nest. Big Bird and Snuffy announce that they'll be hanging out today while Gordon practices on the flute. He plays a few notes before leaving to practice, while Snuffy and Big Bird decide what to do first. Snuffy chooses to present the number of the day, but realizes he doesn't have the number with him. Not knowing what to do, they call Gordon for help, who gives them a piece of paper with the number 2 written on it. Now having their number, they decide to show a movie featuring it...

SCENE 1 cont'd After the cartoon, Snuffy says he wants to watch it again, but Big Bird doesn't want to - the perfect opportunity to ask Gordon for help. Gordon suggests that they cooperate, where Snuffy takes his turn first before Big Bird's. They watch the movie again, tooting along with the train this time.

Big Bird and Snuffy make "toot" sounds off-screen.
SCENE 2 It's now Big Bird's turn, who wants to do a puzzle. Snuffy says he loves doing them, so Big Bird requests the viewer to help them put the following puzzle together...

SCENE 2 cont'd Now it's Snuffy's turn again, who elects to say the alphabet. Together, they say (and watch) the alphabet in the following segment.

When the film reaches "H," Snuffy asks to see the previous letter again, so Big Bird summons the kids back to make the letter "G" again. The film resumes afterwards.

SCENE 3 Big Bird realizes they both just did two things without needing Gordon's help. Snuffy mentions how proud Gordon would be, so they both call him again and tell him what happened. Gordon appreciates the comment and returns to practicing, leaving the two wondering what to do again. Snuffy decides they're hungry, so they holler yet again. An exasperated Gordon explains how he wants to stick to practicing, but after learning that they're both in need of a snack, he generously decides to make them one. While they wait, Big Bird reads a book to Snuffy - a story about a furry, blue engineer...

SCENE 4 Big Bird finishes the story, but the thought of cookies and ice cream makes Snuffy feel slightly more hungry. They soon discover lots of bubbles floating around them. Snuffy thinks it's coming from someone taking a bath nearby.

SCENE 5 Gordon arrives at the nest with their lunch: a cabbage sandwich for Snuffy, and a birdseed milkshake for Big Bird. Gordon tells them not to call him through the window so he can keep practicing. Big Bird compliments, saying he'll be the best flute player on Sesame Street! When they start to eat, Snuffy notices his sandwich isn't cut right. Instead of a triangle, it's cut like "...some other shape." Knowing they can't tell Gordon through the window, Big Bird decides they'll write him a note - an idea Snuffy finds genius.
Cartoon Some animals want a boy to share his birthday cake with them, but he keeps changing his "No ______ allowed" sign, until they all offer him a glass of milk.

SCENE 6 Inside his apartment, Gordon attempts to play a section of music, when he hears a rustling sound coming from his front door. He finds a large note reading "Dear Gordon, Help. Your friend, Snuffy." Returning to the nest, Big Bird and Snuffy explain to him their dilemma. Gordon goes to fetch a knife and help.
Animation In stop-motion, sandwich ingredients square-dance in a ring and arrange themselves into a sandwich, which gets a bite taken out of it in a refrigerator.

SCENE 8 Back in Gordon's apartment, he starts to play a favorite bar in the song, when Big Bird and Snuffy enter the living room. Gordon, stunned at their presence, asks what they want now, but they explain they've come to listen to him play. Gordon performs for them Johann Sebastian Bach's "Minuet in G," as the camera pans across his apartment to the arbor.
